Sample Invitation:

Hi, friends! You’re invited to join us for a Home Church gathering on July 26. We are excited to be able to be together in worship after so many weeks of Sunday morning isolation. Weather permitting, we’re going to meet in our backyard!

Our plan is to gather beginning at about 9:45 am, starting the service together around 10:15 am. The church is providing some materials so that some of us can even contribute in our time of worship. Also, we’re hoping you can stay after the service for a time of fellowship. Please bring a picnic lunch for you/your family to eat, as it’s not recommended to share food these days.

Our plan is to gather around 5:00 pm for a time of fellowship. Please bring a picnic dinner for you/your family to eat, as it’s not recommended to share food these days. Around 6:00 pm we’ll get the service started. The church is providing some materials so that some of us can even contribute in our time of worship.

If you’re able to come, we’d ask you to agree to the following:

-Please don’t come if you or a family member is experiencing any flu-like symptoms, or are required to observe a 14-day self-isolation.

-We need your permission to keep a record of your visit for the sake of contact tracing.

-If you’d like to invite someone to join you, please check with us first to make sure we have room.

-Since we’re not part of each other’s social bubble, let’s try to be respectful of proper distancing when we interact (6.5 ft/2 m), whether standing or sitting. We’ll have everything arranged so that’s easy to do.

-If you can, please bring your own [folding chairs, blankets, sweaters, hats, beverages] or whatever else you need to be comfortable.

-When you arrive, we will direct you to the restroom so that you can wash your hands, and we’ll encourage you to wash your hands before you head home. We’ll also be asking you to wipe down surfaces you touched in the restroom with the Lysol wipes provided.

-[We won’t be wearing masks; if it makes you more comfortable, you’re welcome to wear yours.]

It feels so strange to ask these things of people that we’re welcoming into our home, but we just want to make sure that all of us are safe!

Please let us know if you’re able to join us!

Sincerely,

[Us]
